Created in 1932, the Four Way test is one of the world’s most widely printed and quoted statements of business ethics.
What follows is the story written by Herbert J. Taylor then president of a failing business called the Club Aluminum Company. This simple philosophy was adopted by Rotary in 1943, The Four-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. Given that members of the Wichita Falls Southwest Rotary Club, the Wichita Falls North Rotary Club and all our High School contestants are preparing for our annual 4Way Test Speech Contest on April 4th at Edgemere Church of Christ, a story on how the Rotary 4 Way Test was developed would be appreciated by our readers. It should be noted that it's author, Herbert J. Taylor served as Rotary International's president during the 1954-55 fiscal year. Thanks to our fellow Rotarians in District 5630 (Nebraska) for sharing this story on their website.
